Plumbers Local 1 Instructor attends Advanced Green Plumbing Instructor Training - (7/18/2011)
Plumbers Local 1 Instructor John Sullivan was chosen to participate in an advanced Green Plumbing Instructor Training Program.
The program is part of a federal program called the “Solar Instructor Training Network” and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. There are nine regional districts in the U.S. and John Sullivan was chosen as one of only 12 instructors from New York State to attend from the Northeast region.
The 40 hour, 5-day course was held July 11-15, 2011 at the TEC - SMART Training Facility located in Malta, New York. Participants advanced through lecture, site evaluation, and hands-on installation experiences on mock solar training roofs and mechanical rooms. The course also provided information and discussion on model training programs, curriculum development, and training lab design. Additionally, instructors who completed the course were prepared to take the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners Solar Thermal Certification Examination.
While in Malta, New York, John was photographed for a newspaper article in the Albany Times Union.
