Support Grows for Clean Energy Tax Credits

A rising group of House Republicans now joins Democrats in
defending clean energy tax credits originally passed under the
IRA—recognizing the good-paying union jobs, manufacturing opportunities,
and energy dominance they create. This underscores the success of the UA’s
bipartisan approach: working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to
secure legislation that benefits our members, boosts our economy, and
powers America’s future.

In a recent interview, Alana Schaeffer of UA Local 788 and
President of the Metal Trades Council at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, spoke on how
conflicting directives from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),
led by Elon Musk, are causing confusion for workers handling critical
national security projects. The UA is closely monitoring this situation to
ensure members’ jobs and operations remain secure.

Chavez-DeRemer Confirmed as
Secretary of Labor
|

On Monday, the Senate confirmed Lori Chavez-DeRemer—formerly the U.S.
Representative for Oregon’s 5th District—to lead the Department of Labor.
The UA has worked closely with Chavez-DeRemer in Congress and will do the
same with her at DOL to protect our jobs, our wages, and union rights.
