3 THINGS TO KNOW THIS WEEK
March 19, 2025
|
|
Welcome
to the UA Political Pipeline, your weekly source for the latest updates
from the UA Department of Legislative and Political Affairs. It’s
March 19th, and these are three things you need to know this week:

National
“Right To Work” Bill Halted Thanks to Record
Pushback from UA Members
|
|

|
Sen. Rand Paul’s latest right-to-work legislation—and its
companion in the House—failed to gain the cosponsors needed to advance at
this time, thanks to UA members’ record pushback and signatures. While we will
remain vigilant in case these attacks resurface, your activism and
engagement were critical —proving once again that
when we stand united, our voices make a difference.

Massachusetts
Governor Maura Healey signed an executive order expanding project labor
agreements (PLAs) on large public works projects—ensuring on-time,
on-budget construction, fair wages, and more opportunities for skilled UA
members. The UA applauds leaders like Governor Healey who stand up for our
values by investing in good-paying jobs, proven training, and opportunities
for all working families.

President Trump has issued an executive order rolling back
several Biden-era directives that promoted registered apprenticeships,
project labor agreements, prevailing wages, and stronger labor protections. By revoking these
vital policies, the administration is undercutting programs that create
good-paying union jobs. The UA stands firmly against these rollbacks and
will keep fighting to protect our members’ rights and the interests of
working families.
