27 U.A. Plumbers Local 1 Apprentices completed the requirements for an Associate’s Degree in Science from the State University of New York in 2013. - (6/19/2013)

On June 14, 2013, U.A. Plumbers Local 1 apprentices entered the Alfred Lerner Hall at Columbia University in New York City to the cheers of their family and friends in celebration of their receiving Associates Degrees in Science from Empire State College, State University of New York.

Each graduate, dressed in the traditional cap and gown, was received by Local 1 Business Manager/JATC Co-Chairman John J. Murphy and Empire State College President Meg Benke who conferred their degrees upon them. Also present at the ceremony were JATC Co-Chairman Vincent Aspromonte of the Association of Contracting Plumbers of the City of New York, Local 1 Financial Secretary-Treasurer Donald Doherty, Plumbing Foundation Deputy Director Terrence O’Brien, Business Agents/JATC Members Freddy Delligatti, Richie Garner, and Danny Lucarelli, Director of Trade Education Arthur Klock, Head Trade Instructor John Senay, as well as Trade Instructors Allan Wishnoff, John Miller, and John Sullivan. Retired Business Agent Eddie Kosciarz was in attendance to see his grandson graduate. The Graduates are as follows: Daniel Albert, Ronald Alvarado, Robert Biggio, Salvatore Buzzetta, Rashaad Cochran, Michael Coluccio, Michael Constantino, Rawle Cox, John Doyle, Joseph Finucane, Michael Fischer, Dimitrios Galanis, Freddy Garcia, Eric Grimes, Paul Hodge, Jerell Kyer, Mario Locicero, Joshua Lutchman, Daryl Moseley, Kevin Mullaney, Christopher Peron, Corey Reilly, Victor Rossi, Jerald Sams, Christopher Tavarez, Thiana Vargas, and James Walker.
