DRINKING WATER & WASTEWATER INFRASTRUCTURE ACT - (4/29/2021)

Brothers and Sisters,

Earlier this afternoon, the U.S. Senate voted on S. 914, the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act. In a massive win for our members, the bill sailed through by an 89-2 vote margin.

The bill authorizes $35 billion in funding for water resource development projects across the United States with strong labor protections. Simply put, the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act will directly create thousands of good UA jobs while we work to modernize aging infrastructure.

“This legislation includes investments that will not only help update our aging systems, but enable investment in new technologies, expand access to marginalized communities, and replace lead pipes. With strong labor protections, this bill will directly create thousands of good-paying jobs for our members – who are, quite simply, the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the world. The entire United Association stands ready to lead the way on our combined efforts to modernize our nation’s water infrastructure and build back better.”
